Our leader is Sue Hayton, who has been involved in Industrial Archaeology in Britain and Europe for nearly 30 years. She has been involved in teaching the Certificate in Industrial Archaeology at Birkbeck College and has also written on IA in London as well as in Europe. She is responsible for the research and devises the tours. Paul Saulter, Managing Director of Heritage of Industry Ltd, is also well known, having organised tours all over the world from Cornwall to Australia, for small groups as well as national organisations such as the AIA and the Newcomen Society.Dan Hayton, Sue's husband, has organised and led walks for GLIAS for a number of years and brings that practical experience to strengthen the team. Over the years, Paul, Sue and Dan have led successful Safaris to Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Copenhagen, Paris, Ghent, Hamburg, Lille and Vienna on the continent as well as Glasgow, London and Newcastle. |
